Join us on an unforgettable photography adventure at one of Europe’s premier birding destinations – Lake Kerkini, in Greece. This 3-day, 2-night tour is designed specifically for wildlife photographers and nature enthusiasts eager to capture the majestic Dalmatian Pelican in its natural habitat. With four dedicated photography sessions, we ensure the best opportunities to photograph these stunning birds in breathtaking light and dynamic settings.

Winter is the perfect time to photograph Dalmatian Pelicans in breeding plumage, with intense colors and long feathers on the had and neck. Besides Dalmatians, some White Pelicans stays here over winter, also Flamingos and different shore birds, ducks, Lesser White-Fronted Geese and raptors can be seen during the tours.

Here you will shoot pelicans with wide lenses, this means totally different shots the long lenses. The Pelicans are friendly and do not afraid if you behave in a professional way. Slow moves, stay at the boat level (do not stand), no noises.

Group Confirmation

This program is running with minimum 2 persons subscribed. If less then 2 persons subscribe, you’ll be fully refunded.

Included in this price:

ENGLISH guidance – specialized photographer guide (during the tour);
4 Dalmatian Pelicans photo sessions, 2 from boat and 2 from the shore;
Accommodation in single or double room, bathroom en suite, for 2 nights;
Brunch for second day, breakfast on the last day;
Transport from/to Thessaloniki and during the tour.

Children policy:

Minimum age to participate is 12
Children over 12 years are charged as adults
Responsibility of children’s supervision during trips belong to parents.

Cancellation policy:

More then 90 days before the program you can postpone the trip (you will receive a voucher available 2 years).
Less then 90 days before the trip, the deposit is non refundable.

Day 2: Double Photo Sessions & Pelican Action

Early morning boat session: Close-up shots of pelicans feeding and interacting

Day 3: Last Morning Session & Departure

Transfer back to Thessaloniki Airport, Kerkini Departure 11:30, Thessaloniki arrival 13:00.

You are free to leave anytime after check-out.

Photo gear and personal gear

Camera, lenses for boat sessions, from 10 to 50 mm for wide shots and 70-200 for close-up or flight shots. Tele lenses for the rest of the birds and shore sessions, memory cards and batteries. Waterproof bags for sensitive gear.
Proper clothes to the season/area. Please bring clothes in colors close to rocks (brown, sand, khaki, dark green), avoid ANY other colors.
Please pack compact! We do not provide carrier services and the space in the car is generous but not infinite.

Shared Program

Being a SHARED program, this means the whole group goes with the same car, at the same hours (hours mutually agreed).

Conservation Efforts

The Dalmatian Pelicans at Lake Kerkini face unique challenges, especially in winter. Due to the fish staying in deep water, pelicans struggle to catch food on their own. Conservationists and local communities provide supplemental feeding during this time to ensure their survival.

By participating in this tour, you contribute to awareness and support for these incredible birds and their ecosystem.
