In summer, the Danube Delta takes on a special energy. The water sparkles under the sun, birds are constantly on the move and the beach of Sulina become the perfect invitation for a touch of relaxation. We designed this program especially for July and August, blending nature exploration with laid-back moments by the sea.
What’s included in the tour?
Accommodation: 3 nights in the heart of the Danube Delta, at Mila 23, in a guesthouse offering authentic comfort and traditional local cuisine. Half-board included (breakfast & dinner), plus boat transfers from Tulcea and back.
The accommodation is done in our partner local guesthouses:
Alexandru & Alexandra House | Vaida House | Fisherman’s House
Two full days of guided excursions (led by the most reputable team of guides in the Danube Delta), each with its own charm:
Excursion to Letea – The route crosses the northern lakes of the Delta, the least altered by humans, where nature has preserved its wild balance. You’ll arrive in the village of Letea and continue by car to the famous Letea Forest – a unique place in the world, where centuries-old oaks intertwine with climbing vines like in a tropical jungle and wild horses roam freely across the pastures or rest in the forest shade.
Excursion to Sulina – This route also takes you across lakes, offering the chance to discover much of the Delta’s breathtaking biodiversity and observe a wide variety of birds. Once in Sulina, you’ll have time for lunch, an afternoon on the beach and/or exploring the city – a place full of history and stories, right at the mouth of the Danube.

The trip starts from Tulcea Aval Port (please click the link to find info about localization and parking details) at 16:00. To finalize payments (if necessary) and get information about your boat to Mila23, please arrive at 15:30.
You’ll travel to Mila23 on a scenic route (approx. 2 hours). Our guide will take you to the pier of your chosen guesthouse. At the guesthouse, the staff will hand over your room key (as per voucher). Dinner will be served in the evening.
All transfers and excursions use our open boats, specially designed for tourism (see photos on our website).
After breakfast, depart at 09:30 with the guide for Sulina trip, crossing some of the most pristine natural areas of the Danube Delta. Boats travel at low and medium speed to enjoy the scenery and biodiversity: hidden channels, lakes with water lilies and abundant birdlife.
Upon arrival in Sulina, you have free time to explore the town, enjoy lunch at a restaurant of your choice, relax on the beach or swim in the Black Sea. Please respect the meeting time for the return to the boat to ensure a smooth experience.
Your guide will inform you the evening before about the departure time. Please bring a jacket, as mornings can be cooler.
The route combines canals and lakes, leading to the spectacular Letea sandbank near Europe’s largest colony of Great White Pelicans (Roșca Buhaiova). After arriving in Letea village, a safari vehicle takes you to Letea Forest, Europe’s northernmost subtropical forest. Wild horses, oaks on salty sand and famous dunes await exploration.
Note: This is not a restaurant; only full menus are available, typically fish-based: fish soup, baked fish and Letea donuts for dessert. Paid directly in cash to the hosts.
After Letea, those interested in walks and museums can visit the Ivan Patzaichin Museum in Mila23, Romania’s first New European Bauhaus ambassador hub. Open Wednesday–Sunday, 12:00–19:00, free entry (donations welcome).
Mostly the same route as arrival, at a higher speed than excursions. Disembark at the same pier. Farewell and end of services.
If taking public transport from Tulcea, consider departures after 13:00.
*The order of excursions may vary.
