Step into the wild heart of the Danube Delta, a UNESCO World Heritage site, on a day trip like no other. This 9-10 hour journey offers an unparalleled chance to experience the untouched beauty of one of Europe’s most remarkable natural landscapes. Explore the winding channels, remote villages, and the fascinating Letea Forest, a unique subtropical forest that grows on salty sand, one of its kind in the World.
As you travel with a small group of fellow nature enthusiasts, our expert local guides will reveal the secrets of the Delta’s diverse ecosystems, including the wild horses roaming freely in Letea’s landscape. The tour includes scenic boat rides through narrow channels, a safari-style adventure across the sandy terrain of Letea, and a chance to walk in this magical forest, where the ancient oak trees stand tall against the windswept sand.
This shared day trip offers a genuine and immersive experience, where you’ll not only discover the beauty of the Delta but also the simplicity of life in Letea village. Whether you’re captivated by the wild landscape, enchanted by the local wildlife, or simply soaking in the tranquil atmosphere, this tour is the perfect introduction to the Danube Delta’s wild side.
For this trip, the start is start from Port Tulcea Aval, at 8:00 a.m. For payments (if any) and the communication regarding the boat you will go to Letea, we are waiting for you at 7:45 a.m.
The route starts on one of the most beautiful areas of the Danube Delta, on small wild channels and lakes, until Mila23 village, where you’ll take a short break, for coffee and toilet, then continue towards Letea over the North lakes, until Letea village.
A safari car is waiting for you at the debarking point, for a visit to Letea Forest, the northernmost subtropical forest in Europe. There is a distance of about 7 km between the village and the forest, on sand field (savanna like) where you’ll travel by safari car, then walking about 20-30 minutes, on the route approved by the Administration of the Danube Delta. Searching for wild horses, oaks grown on salty sand and other attractions of the place (depending on the season), walk through the fine sand.
Return to the village where you can have the lunch (optional) at an authentic local household, where the hosts cook simply and traditionally. After lunch return to the boat for the trip back to Tulcea, on a slightly different route. Arrive to the boarding point around 7:00 PM.
*Depending on the season, the water level and the weather conditions, the guide will decide which is the best route to follow.

This trip is done with an OPEN BOAT
With no roof, tarpaulin or windows. The boat looks like in the photos on the website. The speed for our trips is low/medium, our boats are NOT speed boats. These are boats built by the best Romanian boats manufacturer, according to our concept.
All our boats have benches with backrests for a maxim comfort. Every person on the boat will receive a life jacket, mandatory to wear it during the boat trip. We want to show you the beauties of the Danube Delta, to see birds in flight and flocks of pelicans soaring.
All the time we will try to show you something about the places we travel through, about the birds and the flora of the Danube Delta. Each season has its beauty, each area of the Delta has something particular and we’ll try to help you understand what makes the Danube Delta so special.
