This 5-day / 4-night adventure mixes the vast Axios Delta with the magic of Kerkini. Two nights near Thessaloniki, two around Kerkini, and dozens of species on our checklist.

Booking
Bookings are based on 400 euro deposit. The rest of the payment can be done anytime until December 01, 2026.
Group Confirmation
This program is running with minimum 2 persons subscribed. If less then 2 persons subscribe, you’ll be fully refunded.
Included in this price:
- ENGLISH guidance – specialized birding guide (during the tour);
- 3 full days birding sessions;
- Accommodation in single or double room, bathroom en suite, for 4 nights;
- Brunch for birding days (3), breakfast on the last day;
- Transport from/to Thessaloniki and during the tour.
The price does not include:
- Drinks
- Other meals then described as included
- Insurance of any kind (travel, goods, etc.)

- Personal expenses
Children policy:
- Minimum age to participate is 12
- Children over 12 years are charged as adults
- Responsibility of children’s supervision during trips belong to parents.
Cancellation policy:
- More then 90 days before the program you can postpone the trip (you will receive a voucher available 2 years).
- Less then 90 days before the trip, the deposit is non refundable.
Day-by-Day Plan
Day 1 – Arrival in Thessaloniki
- Arrival in the afternoon.
- Quick orientation, warm welcome, check-in to the accommodation, free time for dinner.
Day 2 – Axios Delta: Flamingos, Cranes & Winter Spectacles
- Full day exploring lagoons, salt pans, and reedbeds.
- Strong focus on flamingos, pelicans and waders.
- Sometime until lunch, we’ll stop for a delicious Greek brunch.
- Optional sunset stop for photography (trust us, it’s worth it).
- Overnight in Thessaloniki.
Day 3 – Transfer to Kerkini + First Birding Loop
- Drive north toward Lake Kerkini.
- Some stops in interesting places on the way.
- In the afternoon, arrival in Kerkini, check in to the accommodation and a quick evening tour to the surroundings.
- Chances for Dalmatian Pelicans at close range, Pygmy Cormorants, herons, raptors, maybe even a cheeky nuthatch on the rocks.
- Overnight in Kerkini.
Day 4 – Kerkini Winter Magic
- Full day around the lake and surrounding hills.
- Early search for Lesser White-fronted Geese, Common Cranes and Bewick’s Swans.
- Afternoon around the dam and river inflows for raptors, passerines, and waterbirds.
- Overnight in Kerkini.
Day 5 – Final Birding + Return to Bucharest / Airport
- Drive back toward Thessaloniki for departure.
- Goodbyes, checklists, and plans for the next adventure.
