Availability

We are doing this tour in May-June and September-October (not in summer). Winter (November-April) it’s subject of weather, bear can sleep or not. You can have amazing pictures with bear on snow or … nothing.

Target species:

Brown Bears Hides:

Of course, the stars, Brown Bears but also Red Deer, Roe Deer, Red Fox or Wild Boar can be seen in front of the hide, together with some forest common species as Jay, Magpie, Wood Pigeon, Stock Dove, Grey-headed Woodpecker, Black Woodpecker, Chaffinch.

We recommend you to use 2 tripods and 2 cameras. A long lens for birds and distant bear and a short lens (70-200) because sometimes you can have more bears in front of you, bears close to the hide or some action of 2 bears.

Birds hide:

It’s a hide with drinking pool and feeders, attracting Chaffinch, Great Spotted Woodpecker, Syrian Woodpecker, Greenfinch, Great Tit, Willow Tit, Common Redstart and even Red Squirrel.

With 500-600mm lenses, you’ll have full frame birds, with 300mm, you’ll have birds mirroring into the water.

Bookings

Bookings are based on a 30% deposit of the price of the program.

The rest of the payment have to be done 30 days before the tour start. If the tour is booked less then 30 days before departure, the full price will be paid.

Children policy:

Minimum age to participate is 12
Children over 12 years are charged as adults
Responsibility of children’s supervision during trips belong to parents.

Cancellation Policy:

More then 90 days before the program you can postpone the trip (you will receive a voucher available 2 years).
Less then 90 days before the trip, the deposit is non refundable.

Itinerary

Day 1: Pick you up from Bucharest or Brasov, for other pick-up point, ask us. Transfer to Transylvania area. Settle into your accommodations and meet your guide for a briefing on the days ahead.

Days 2-3: Morning bird photography from a professional hide, followed by an afternoon – evening session in the bear hide. Until sunset time, you’ll have a lot of opportunities for good photos with bear and other wildlife.

Day 4: After breakfast, transfer to Bucharest or Brasov. Please let us know if you have a flight booked for this day.

Extension to another program:

If you choose this program as an extension of any of our programs to the Danube Delta, the transfer to or from Tulcea, will be included.

Personal Equipment

Clothes suitable for this activity, for every season apart
Color of the clothes is also very important. Please bring your clothes in colors more natural, as close to the colors of nature surrounding. Camouflage pattern on brown are best.
Also, to the hides, noisy clothes (kind of waterproof jackets) are to avoid, use fleece instead.

As photo equipment should bring

Camera
Long lenses (+400mm) for birds; wide lenses for landscapes and medium range (ex 70-200) for Bears hide.

Conservation Focus

This experience is rooted in conservation. The hide was built with a specific goal: to reduce conflict between humans and bears. By feeding bears in this controlled environment, they are deterred from descending into villages, ensuring the safety of both locals and wildlife.

*Extreme winter conditions:

In case of extreme weather conditions (snow, roads closed) occurred before the start of the tour, the deposit will be returned in full.

If these extreme conditions occur during the tour, the price will be lowered only for the remaining part of the program not made.

If customers come from another country / region and appear extreme weather conditions, our agency has no obligation to compensate customers in any way for expenses related to flights or other transportation. Also, if extreme weather conditions occurring during the program and the clients can’t go back home, our agency has no obligation to pay accommodation and other additional expenses.
