Get ready for an unforgettable wildlife photography experience deep in the heart of the Balkan Mountains, Bulgaria! Just a 4-hour drive from Bucharest, this hidden gem is home to a thriving population of Cinereous and Griffon Vultures, feeding together with Golden Jackals, offering unparalleled opportunities to capture these majestic birds and mammals in their natural habitat.

Every day the guide will take you to the hide, early in the morning, before sunrise and help you to set all the gear in the hide. This is an ALL DAY activity, it is not possible to get out of hide until sunset. The success rate to this species is related to the guide experience but also to your ability of following the rules the guide will explain you!

The guide will be with you in the hide all the time, sharing with you valuable tips about hide behavior, photography and nature conservation. For a better experience, the group is max 5 photographers + guide.

Bookings

Bookings are based on 350 euro deposit. The remaining balance will be paid in the week before the tour.

ENGLISH guidance – specialized guide
The transfers by car, from Bucharest to Bulgaria and back.
Accommodation at 3* level, in double room, for 3 nights
3 breakfasts (to go, for hide)

Optionally:

Lunch meal – can be ordered to the accommodation, to go, 15 euro/person.
Dinner – can be ordered to the accommodation restaurant.

Insurance of any kind (travel, goods, etc.)

Cancellation policy

More then 90 days before the program you can postpone the trip (you will receive a voucher available 2 years).
Less then 90 days before the trip, the deposit is non refundable.

Children policy:

Minimum age to participate is 12
Children over 12 years are charged as adults
Responsibility of children’s supervision during trips belong to parents

Itinerary

Day 1: Meeting, arrival & Briefing

Meet you in Bucharest Airport, at 12:00.
Transfer to Balkan Mountains, Sliven region.
Check-in at a nice, photographer-friendly lodge.
Introduction to the site and photography strategy session.

Day 2 & 3: Full Days in the Hide

Early morning transfer to the hide before sunrise.
Full-day photography sessions, capturing vultures feeding, flying and interacting.
Evening review of shots with guide feedback.

Day 4: Final Session & Departure

Optional short morning photo session (from the car or walk) for last captures.
Check-out.

For the hide photo sessions:

Please have with you enough batteries and cards. No power source is available to the hide.
Gimbal head it’s a must. In front of the window you’ll shoot is a table and a plate with screw for tripod head..
Lenses used: 600-800mm for close ups of the birds, details etc. 300-500mm general shootings, 200-300mm for groups of birds, large scenes. Once you set a lens in the morning, IT IS NOT POSSIBLE to change it during the day.
